The Scarlet Letter

Starring: Demi Moore, Robert Duval, Gary Oldman

This highly unusual, much panned film is getting a warmly 
deserved second chance on video. Demi Moore's breasts turn 
in a ravishing performance as the innocent young mammaries 
made to bear the cursed letter of film's title. Sadly, the 
rest of her trails behind in star power. Still, everyone who 
was forced to read the book in high school will no doubt 
rejoice to learn that very little of the original tale 
remains. Instead we are treated to overblown, pulpy trash 
that won't tax even the most remedial brain. Gary Oldman's 
sinister portrayal of Lee Harvey Oswald, who ultimately 
ensnares Hester's love, is misguided, but so what? He gets a 
chance to sing and display his trampoline act.  Demi bares 
her breasts in the final climactic scene, Robert tries for 
that Best Supporting actor Oscar, and Gary chews the scenery 
to shreds. A minor masterpiece ****
